Morris Animal Refuge News

Penn Veterinary To The Rescue

Dexter, a lab mix pup, was found on the streets of the city with a severely broken back leg, most probably as a result of a car hit and run. We had x-rays taken and they showed a extremely serious break that would require costly and complicated surgery. Not knowing what to do with him and not having the money to obtain the surgery he needed, we reached out to Michael Moyer, head of the Shelter Medicine Program at Penn. Michael generously arranged for the vet school to do the complicated surgery pro bono. Dexter is doing amazing! As he bounds around the offices; you would never suspect he had a serious leg injury. He is completing his rehabilitation at the refuge, and will be up for adoption soon!

Welcome to Our New Website

We are very excited to be launching our new website developed by Sean Kelley of Blue Muse MediaWorks. The project to establish the new site was headed by Board director Joe Forrest with very strong assistance provided by General Manager, Jim DePaul and our administrative assistant, Dan Solomon. As you can see, the site is clean and crisp, while providing all the Refuge information and it is quite easy to navigate.

Sean and his team have built the system around Joomla, a Content Management System, which allows us at the Refuge to update information, pictures, events, and so forth. Joe has been having a blast rewriting text and adding pictures – he even got to put up a picture of Elizabeth Morris, the founder of Morris Animal Refuge.

So, please take a stroll around the site - check out the adorable and eager animals we have here at the Refuge awaiting for you to come and take them home.  Also take some time to read about our dedicated staff and Board.   And do take some time to let us know what you think about the new site which you can do on the Contact Us page.
