Look, Love, Adopt

When you adopt an animal, you’re not just saving the life of the animal you adopted. You’re also opening up space for the next animal in need. Our goal at the Morris Animal Refuge is to approach the adoption process holistically to make the best matches for our adopters and for our animals.

We are no longer requiring appointments or pre-approvals to adopt! Visit our shelter (1242 Lombard St) or PetSmart Adoption Center (2360 Oregon Ave.) during the following hours to adopt your new best friend. We will process your information at the time of adoption and in most cases your animal can go home with you on the same day.

Adoptions are same-day, first-come-first-served. We cannot hold animals for pick-up at a later date!

What Should I Bring With Me To Adopt?

When you arrive at the refuge, please bring a valid photo ID and cash or card to pay the adoption fee.

If you will be meeting a dog: Bring any children living in the home. If you have another dog already, please bring them as well.

What Does The Adoption Fee Cover?

All animals adopted from Morris Animal Refuge are

- Spayed/Neutered

- Up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations

- Treated for fleas and most intestinal parasites

- Microchipped

- Cared for by our loving staff until they find their forever homes

We strongly recommend any animals adopted from us to see a veterinarian with 1-2 weeks of adoption for a post-adoption check-up and to establish care.

Precious is a survivor! Though this adorable gal came to Morris with a long-broken hind leg that never received proper treatment, she's kept her sweet, good-natured attitude despite the bad days and still has a ton of love to share with the world.

Buddy is a sweet, trusting boy who purrs all day. He loves playing with ball and wand toys, and loves catnip too! He's a big fan of lying on laps and would be a great work from home friend.

Cola is a big, cuddly lap cat looking for a new home to ease into. He and his friend Pepsi were found as stray kittens by their previous owner and spent their whole lives with her, so Cola is looking to take it slow with new companions.

Rowan looks like an adorable little cheetah, with a tiny, aerodynamic head and svelte build that guarantee this gal can quickly chase down whatever she's after--but she's such a sweetheart that the only prize she's interested in catching is your heart!
