When you adopt an animal, you’re not just saving the life of the animal you adopted. You’re also opening up space for the next animal in need. Our goal at the Morris Animal Refuge is to approach the adoption process holistically to make the best matches for our adopters and for our animals.
Please see below for our updated adoption protocol:
To begin the adoption process, please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire so we can get to know more about you:
The Morris Animal Refuge reserves the right to refuse any adoption.
At this time we have fully transitioned back to walk-ins for cat adoptions and most dog adoptions!
If a dog requires an appointment it will be noted in that dog's bio on our website.
Stop in during the following hours to see our adoptable animals. We are still requiring visitors to wear masks while they are in the building.
Adoptions are same-day, first-come-first-served. We cannot hold animals for pick-up at a later date!
What Should I Bring With Me To The Shelter?
When you arrive at the refuge, please bring a valid photo ID and cash or card to pay the adoption fee.
If you will be meeting a dog: Bring any children living in the home. If you have another dog already, please bring them as well.
What Does The Adoption Fee Cover?
All animals adopted from Morris Animal Refuge are
- Up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations
- Treated for fleas and most intestinal parasites
- Cared for by our loving staff until they find their forever homes
We require any animals adopted from us to see a veterinarian within 1 week of adoption for a post-adoption check-up and to establish care.
