Look, Love, Adopt

When you adopt an animal, you’re not just saving the life of the animal you adopted. You’re also opening up space for the next animal in need. Our goal at the Morris Animal Refuge is to approach the adoption process holistically to make the best matches for our adopters and for our animals.

We are no longer requiring appointments or pre-approvals to adopt! Visit our shelter (1242 Lombard St) or PetSmart Adoption Center (2360 Oregon Ave.) during the following hours to adopt your new best friend. We will process your information at the time of adoption and in most cases your animal can go home with you on the same day.

Adoptions are same-day, first-come-first-served. We cannot hold animals for pick-up at a later date!

What Should I Bring With Me To Adopt?

When you arrive at the refuge, please bring a valid photo ID and cash or card to pay the adoption fee.

If you will be meeting a dog: Bring any children living in the home. If you have another dog already, please bring them as well.

What Does The Adoption Fee Cover?

All animals adopted from Morris Animal Refuge are

- Spayed/Neutered

- Up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations

- Treated for fleas and most intestinal parasites

- Microchipped

- Cared for by our loving staff until they find their forever homes

We strongly recommend any animals adopted from us to see a veterinarian with 1-2 weeks of adoption for a post-adoption check-up and to establish care.

Cleo
ID : MAR-A-6088
Cleo

This classy calico is Cleo! With the shimmering bronze of her coat and her bright golden eyes, she evokes the Egyptian aesthetic of her namesake. Though she’s shy at first, she warms up quickly, and once she does, she is sweet and playful.

Bruce

This tall, dark, and handsome guy is Bruce! He has luscious charcoal-colored fur that you can really sink your fingers into, and he loves every bit of attention he can get. He's an absolute sucker for a good chin scratch, though.

Tank
ID : MAR-A-6135
Tank

On the trip over to the PetSmart, Tank made sure to let us know he's not a big fan of travel, but he does seem to be a fan of contemporary classical music--we put on some Max Richter, and he seemed to mellow out so that he could listen to the music.
