At the Morris Animal Refuge, we know that you want to do the right thing by choosing adoption and saving a life. It is our objective to find out as much about your wants and hopes for a pet as well as your lifestyle, time constraints, and capabilities, so that we can make the best match between you and your new pet as possible. The Refuge and our adoption staff focus on counseling to support you and your new animal, making sure you have all the information you need to keep your new pet happy and healthy. The goal is to meet everyone's needs, both human and animal!
To adopt, please come to the Refuge or one of our other adoption locations, and speak with a member of our adoption team. Any staff member will be happy to speak with you about what you're looking for in a new pet, show you any animals you're interested in, and help you make an informed decision on which furry friend would be the best match. No appointment is needed to visit our animals, and we do same-day adoptions of available pets on a first-come, first-served basis. We will require valid photo ID at the time of adoption.
You may fill out an online adoption application, so that your information can be retained in our system but since matches are made based on specific animals, we hope you'll come visit them soon! If you do not see an animal you are interested in at this time, we encourage you to stop in anytime to see our current animals and find your perfect match. The Morris Animal Refuge reserves the right to refuse any adoption.
All of our animals up for adoption are already spayed/neutered, fully up-to-date on vaccinations and flea treatment, and microchipped. If there are any known medical or behavioral concerns with an animal, we will make any potential adopter aware of it during the counseling process. The Refuge, however, cannot perform full medical examinations on each animal.
