To our supporters,
With the recent restrictions put out by Pennsylvania and the City of Philadelphia, Morris Animal Refuge is required to be closed to the public starting tomorrow, March 17th, until further notice. This means major changes to our services.
We still have animals in the shelter looking for forever homes. If you are interested in adopting one of the animals at our shelter you may do so by appointment only. To make an appointment, please email us at We will get back to you as soon as possible. We are waiving adoption fees for all animals in the shelter, but you still must be approved to adopt. To get approved, please fill out our adoption application
We are currently looking for temporary fosters for all of the animals in our care in order to reduce the work-load of the limited number of staff at the shelter. If you are able to foster any of our animals, please email us at If you cannot adopt, fostering is the best way to help the animals and you'll have a buddy while you are practicing social distancing!
Animal Surrenders and Intakes
Until restrictions are lifted, Morris Animal Refuge will not be accepting stray animals, owner surrenders, or transferring animals from other locations. While we are not able to take animals in at this time, we have provided resources to help you care for the animal until we are able to return to our full operations.
We will let you know as soon as we have updates and are able to return to our normal procedures. We are relying on our community to help us through this and appreciate any support you can provide!
Stay healthy and safe!
